Cable Laying Method - NEC Rules for Conduit Fill

This cable laying method should be used for conduits only to insure that only single cable is routed through selected conduit (dedicated conduit) and conduit fill does not exceed 53%.

NEC Rules for conduit fill - single cable

If NEC rules for conduit fill- single cable is selected for conduit, only one cable will be auto-routed through with up to 53% fill factor. The voltage level for cable and conduit still have to match in order for auto-routing to work.

The 53% can be changed if needed to comply with different localized standards. To set different value open file NECFillFactorsTable.xml located in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\BRCM\BRCM\mdlapps\CableFillCalculators

NEC rules for conduit fill

This cable routing method is used for conduits only when it isn't essential to ensure that conduit has single cable only, when final number of cables is not known, but it is essential that fill factors rules are used as listed below:

Number of cables

Maximum conduit fill

1

53%

2

31%

3 or more

40%

Maximum fill factors can be modified to comply with different localized electrical standards, by making changes in NECFillFactorsTable.xml located in:
